A
protest in the walk of Zainab accident was held by civil society and WomenShade
Pakistan. People from different walk of levies participated including political
parties representative holding placards of Zainab picture with the slogans.
The eight year old Zainab was abducted on her way to tuition
class by a person living in vicinity of her home in
Kasut city of Panjab. She was raped and murdered; her body was found in nearby garbage.
Culprit Imran arrested by the policy, during investigation, he confessed
to the crime ironically; At Jan- 9- 2018 Imran was arrested by the policy, but
unfortunately police released him due to health condition of the suspect and
that too without obtaining tissue samples for DNA Test.
But later Imran was once again taken into custody on Jan 19, and police collected
his tissue samples and released him, he was finally arrested on Jan 22 after
receiving DNA report which matched with at least seven other DNA reports of similar
cases of rape and murder.
12 cases has been registered in the course of one year, out of these
seven girls have been raped and killed, while two had survived according to the
JIT report.
23 hours deadline was given by the Supreme Court, resultantly police become
active and culprit was apprehended at last.
After the Zainab Incident, riot erupted in the Kasur city, in those riot
two protesters died as result of firing by the police and many other got
injured, in the next day entire country protested for arrest of perpetrator of
Zainab as well as another 12 girls.
“The case of Zinab brought Pakistan once again in limelight; women activist worked round the clock to raise this issue,
afterward entire Pakistan came to roads and made noise with the slogan of “justice for Zianb”. Many
celebrities also joined the campaign. Nadil Jamil also broke silence and said that
she was abused at the age of six years old and she also revealed that some
other Pakistani actress also had gone though this unfortunate trauma.
According
the Express Tribune 129 cases of child assault were reported from Kasur in 2017
where 19 cases of children sodomy also reported, six case of abduction and
rapes and four abduction and gang-rapes, in 23 cases, children were raped, 17
cases of children attempted rapes, 34 cases of children abductions As well, in
2016 141 cases were reported whereas 451 cases were registered in Kasur in 2015.
Though
there were various CCTV footages available of culprit taking Zainab away, but
due to low resolution, law enforcement agency could not identify him.
One
should suggest that the government should install CCTV with the high resolution
at different location especially nearby garbage so that faces of people are
clearly visible only than there would be true utility of the technology,
otherwise installing low resolution camera would not contribute much to
bringing the criminal to justice.
